As one of its flagship healthcare initiatives, Excel Healthcare is developing a 75-bed comprehensive cancer care institution at Sooriyur, Tiruchirappalli.
The initiative is designed to bring advanced oncology services closer to patients and families across Central Tamil Nadu and surrounding regions, reducing the need for long-distance travel to access specialised cancer treatment.
The institution will offer integrated cancer diagnosis, radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology and supportive care through advanced clinical infrastructure, modern medical technology and a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
Operations are expected to commence by June 2027.
Rooted in the Thanjavur and Tiruchirappalli region of Tamil Nadu, Excel Healthcare’s journey began with a commitment to community health and social development. Over time, this purpose evolved into a broader platform addressing preventive healthcare, public health support, environmental sustainability and access to advanced medical treatment.
The comprehensive cancer care initiative emerged from a deeply personal understanding of the challenges faced by families when specialised oncology services are not available closer to home.
After witnessing close family members travel approximately 300 to 350 kilometres from Tiruchirappalli to Chennai for cancer diagnosis and treatment, Mr. M. Muruganandam, Chairman of Excel Group of Companies and Director of Sughavazhvu Healthcare, recognised the urgent need to strengthen cancer care access within the region.
This experience became the foundation of a larger institutional mission: to help ensure that distance, affordability and limited local access do not prevent patients from receiving timely and appropriate cancer care.
Today, Excel Healthcare is translating this vision into reality through the development of a comprehensive cancer care institution at Sooriyur, Tiruchirappalli. Supporting this mission, Sughavazhvu Healthcare, a Section 8 not-for-profit entity under Excel Group, mobilizes CSR and philanthropic support for critical oncology equipment.
Together, the initiative seeks to bring compassionate, comprehensive and accessible cancer care closer to patients and families across Central Tamil Nadu and surrounding regions.
To establish a regional centre of excellence in cancer care that delivers accessible, high-quality, and patient-centric treatment.
